Peradeniya Botanical Garden



Peradeniya is located in close proximity to the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka.It is renowned for the collection the variety of Orchids,and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees.Total land mass of the botanical garden is 147 acres, 460 Meters above sea level with a 200 day annual rain fall, it is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.
A large variety of decorative plants and other creepers that are used to produce the special spices of Sri Lanka are found in Peradeniya Botanical Garden. Huge tropical trees are found through the length and breath of the lawns. The orchid house in the garden is really worth a visit. There are more than three hundred varieties of superb orchids blooming in profusion. The spice garden in the park has trees and plants used for preparing traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The magnificence of the garden is heightened by the Mahaweli River which flows through its outer edge.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage



Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants which is situated northwest of the town of Kegalle, Sri Lanka.. It was established in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife Conservation.The orphanage was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned elephants found in the jungle. As of 2008, there were 84 elephants. he aim of the orphanage is to simulate the natural world. However, there are some exceptions: the elephants are taken to the river twice daily for a bath, babies under three years of age are still bottle fed by the mahouts and volunteers.in 1984 there were 84 elephant and More than twenty-three elephants have been born since 1984.the orphanage has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.
The orphanage is very popular among local and foreign tourists. The main attraction is the opportunity to observe the bathing elephants from the broad river bank as the herd interacts socially, bathing and playing.sitors to the park can view many different aspects of the care and daily routine of the elephants, such as bottle feeding of elephant calves, feeding of all other elephants, and bathing.

World's End In Srilanka



One of the attraction of Horton plains is world's end. There are infact two of them. The small world endand The big worlds end they are about 0.8km apart from each other. From these, one could see the fall to the Tea states down bellow. A merry 1000ft from the small one and a dramatic 4000ft from the big one. From here one could get a fantastic view of the surrounding hills and the mountain ranges wreathed in mists and clouds and on clear days even the Indian ocean which is about 81km to the south is visible.

Hikkaduwa Coral


The beach of Hikkaduwa is situated 98 km from Colombo towards the south of Sri Lanka. Snorkeling and diving in the clear waters are the major past-time along this stretch and is the most environmentally friendly way to see the colorful fish that dart around. The coral sanctuary found on the coast of Hikkaduwa is a large shallow body of water enclosed by a reef, decorated with layers of multi colored corals, witch is home to countless number of colorful fish. Off the beach there is a collection of tine islets surrounded by beautiful coral formations
The impressive coral reef runs just offshore and is still populated by exotic fish and sea turtles.The Coral Garden here is considered to be the best out of all such coral gardens found in Asia.reef of lime stones running parallel to the coast. The corals are in between this line of lime stones and the coast.The reef of lime stones protects the corals from high tide. These corals are found in various forms , shapes and colours. They are a very fascinating sight especially when there is bright sunlight which gives a very clearer view of the corals.some corals in the shape of a cabbage leaf and some corals are like a lady's fan.corals can grow in their natural form and colour.
